  2. The science or study of sports involving kicking a ball, of those who do the kicking, and of those who assist with the kicking:
  • Football (a.k.a. American football): placekickers, punters, & kickoff specialists; assisted by long snappers and holders
  • Soccer (a.k.a. football, fútbol): strikers, wingers, centre forwards, midfielders, defenders & goalkeepers
  • Rugby (a.k.a. football): fly-half, scrum-half, full-back, wings & centres
